Stuffed / full mouth in dreams – what does that mean (dream interpretation stuffed mouth)
Dream interpretation of a stuffed/full mouth. A lot of people dream about having a mouth full of food, chewing gum or something else that makes it absolutely impossible to talk, and maybe they even experience the feeling of suffocating. The following is a walkthrough of what dreaming about a stuffed or full mouth can mean.
The mouth is a very important organ. It is the place where we consume food (and dispose of food if it is not good for us – i.e. vomit). Dreaming about food is often an image of psychological /mental energy (see this blog post about food in dreams), and the mouth can therefore be a symbol of how we consume and “digest” external experiences, for example an emotional one.
To keep pulling something out of the mouth (gum, food or something else) as an image of something that is somewhat uncomfortable which we should dispose/get rid of, or that we currently try to get rid of. You might dream that your mouth is full of a gum-like substance, and that you are constantly trying to pull all the gum out of your mouth, but there keep being something left, and it is like there is no point in trying to pull it out.
This could symbolize that you have “swallowed”/experienced something unpleasant in your life that you are unconsciously trying to dispose of in your dream. However, because you are not actively doing something about it in your actual life, your subconscious will be filled up by “gum” – that is, the experience or the thoughts that you are ignoring. You might even find that the thoughts or experiences you have “swallowed” have turned into something that is suffocating you because you are not getting rid of it (i.e. talking to someone about it).
The elements that suffocate you could also be potential lies you have been “fed” as a child, and these can be difficult to get rid of. Maybe the dream thus invites you to look at the “truths” you have in life (your beliefs, and where they come from). Again, the dream might say; you need to deal with this –perhaps you need to talk to somebody about it. See also dreams of strangulation/suffocation.

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.
However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.
My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

Full or blocked mouth as a symbol of not being heard. You can also dream that your mouth is in some way blocked, and that you therefore are prevented from speaking (for example with duct tape, or something else that prevents you from being able to talk). It may simply be a symbol of a general feeling of not being heard or seen, or maybe you have a hard time saying no in certain situations? What kind of a mental duct tape have you put on your mouth? Is it you or someone else who has put it there? You are the only one who can remove it.
A final alternative interpretation is that your subconscious is trying to tell you that you’ve said enough, and that you need to be quiet.
Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dream interpretation / analysis is not always an easy sport, and the best way to know whether you have come up with a meaningful interpretation is that you really feel – deep in your stomach – that this is right for you in your life right now.

My dreams have been so weird lately. Cotton swabs were what was coming out of my mouth. Gobs of them at a time, like I stream of them in a bunch as big as my mouth. I finally got to the end of them but it was gross. Like it was from so deep inside me there was feces attached at the bottom. And I was speaking some unknown language to son other ‘kids’, like we were our own whole new weird breed. So weird my dreams are these days, and they feel so real. I wake up feeling like I’ve been somewhere and expeeienced something, even as bizarrr as it is it can’t be real.
Hi. I’ve just recently been having repeat dreams about pulling things out of my mouth… The first time (a little gross) it was a long string of snot and it would never end. The second time, I believe it was this markiplier sock I have but it also was infinite. Then it was a really long piece of asparagus, and it’s kind of just been asparagus now… I’m not sure exactly what would be going on…
I had a dream where i drank come coke the drink of course aha and two of my teeth were very loose so i pulled them out. When i looked at my teeth with a mirror they were all black except for my front teeth that are visible. But thats not even the strange part as I have had three other dreams where my teeth have been rotten. What was weird was i started feeling the roof of my mouth when i felt a very hard honey comb substance and when i looked in the mirror it was a weird black substance that also looked like honey comb but black. Straight away i started brushing my teeth and my teeth started turning white again and the black honey comb substance was flaking off. Could you think of any meanings to this ahah I’m very curious as this is my fourth time having a dream about teeth but never like this and my mom always told me having a bad dream has a bad meaning.
I had a dream that I had plastic stuck in my throat and was finding it hard to breath and no one believed me and I was scared gasping for air?
I had a dream that my teeth were so big that i couldn’t talk and they felt like they were going to fall out of my mouth and i had to go to some specialist room and they had never seen it before, and i couldn’t eat or talk and had to hold over my mouth so i wouldn’t dribble or have my big teeth fall out. And before that dream the same night i had a dream that my teeth were falling out and i threw the ones the fell out away and then i had to go look for them cause i thought they would need them if i had them replaced
Hi Michael, I had a dream where I was sitting on the floor playing some kind of game and my boyfriend shows up in my dream and we’re laughing and I’m showing the game to him next we start making out. As we’re making out he passes food into my mouth that was in his mouth from his previous meal (i think it was pizza) we stopped making out and I get close to the ground and I begin to spit it out on to the game that I was messing with. What could this mean?
I have one! though this one is a little weird,In this dream i dreamt about a certain disney villain, this disney villain was Frollo it was a dream where i asked myself “What if frollo did not die and instead lived out his days out of the church,in this dream i encounter him and tell him that if maybe he wants forgiveness frofcourse totallym god and to redeem himself than he should better pay god back or something like tupence or give away his large mansion like home to the people so that it can be used for something good to which he replies to me saying something like “Oh do you mean like a hospital?…”and i’m like yes ofcourse totally and i thought maybe god could forgive him that way then i make my way to some place with Frollo where he is talking to some kind of man and a woman but all of a sudden my mouth feels weird Mr.Frollo asks me if i’m alright to which i do not answer cus my mouth feels weird so i hurridly exit out of the room where he was in and go to the nearest bathroom where i look myself in the mirror for a momment but then down to the sink and start spitting out some kind of dry black waxy chip things i look up and see myself in the mirror i open my mouth infront of the mirror and my mouth is covered in dry breaking candle wax and am spittint it out i open my mouth again and on top of the black candle wax is a dollar bill i think a 20 maybe and then i take it out of my mouth and what was under that dollr bill was a big piece of red lipstick that i wanted to spit out also, what do you think this whole dream means?
Hi Michael, I understand that you no longer do free interpretations, one day Imay contact you however I have found reading other peoples dreams here on this site quite interesting and helpful because there’s so many that are similar to my own, and in someway it has been helpful just reading these others, I wanted to add mine.
Some background is I have had many traumas when I was younger and as an adult, I still live in the home (and come along way and I’m working on getting out of here, where I can do it safely and not be without) where my brother was beaten as a baby in his bed every morning and as a teenager lived chained to his bed. In my early 30s I became a victim of my identicle twin sister, slut shaming me and ruining my reputation of which I helped and made some mistakes myself after she started her now going on 20 year shame and smear campaign. A little over a month ago I started facing a repressed rape that happened at 16 years old but did not involve sodmy.
About my dreams. I’ve had the goo in my mouth dream many times, I keep pulling it out and it just seems to keep forming. I’ve had the pins in my mouth dreams a few times also I’ll get almost all of the pins (needles not so sharp but kind of) out and then as I try to speak the pins just fill back up in my mouth. Last night I had a dream that I was flying away from some people that did not welcomed me at some type of event or party, (dreams of me not being welcomed or people turning their back on me R very common, dreams of my sisters turning their back on me very common) last night it was foreigners that were chasing me from this event, realizing I needed to get away I realized I could just fly away from them . my flying became very rapid and fast although I enjoy flying in my dreams I was not enjoying flying so fast, not the first time I have flown away from people chasing me in my dreams. I was relieved when my alarm went off and woke me up from this dream not realizing because of flying so fast I had been pulling acrylic/plastic either out of my mouth or away from my mouth opening. If I keep having these dreams I will probably be contacting you. thank you for giving myself and others a place to just be heard and letting us realize that we’re not the only ones having these dreams of our mouth’s being stuffed. Thanks again N maybe I’ll contact you one day. It has helped me in the past to pray before I go to sleep and ask The Creator to please not let me have these dreams. Hopefully that helps others, try it. Dear Michael, I completely understand that you are not able to do this for free anymore, and again thank you so much!! :))
Hi, I actually experienced 2 dreams, my first dream is that I have a lot of lice in my hair, it is so big that it looks like a tick of a dog. My second dream is that my mouth is full of corals and stones. No matter how much I removed it, it keeps on producing more and more and by the end I also have some insects inside my mouth like cockroach. Thanks for any inputs that will help me interpret my dream.
i had a dream where my teeth were made of marbles and it was so painful i kept spitting up blood…
Hi Michael!
In my case my mouth and throat were soaring, and I was been chased and threatened. Somebody had tried to.shoot me several times but I was able to dodge the bullets. Finally I discovered that I had an enormous tumor-like element stuck in my throat (at first I thought I was pulling my own tongue but then realized it was something else!). I went to the doctor to diagnose it and at the end I was able to pull some little insects (similar to tiny beetles). Needless to say, it was an extremely horrible and agonizing nightmare! Any interpretation will be very appreciated, I am quite worried as this nightmare comes after a whole week of every night nightmares. Thank you!
In my dream I was spitting out my own organs in a grainy none bloody texture. I think in the dream thise organs were my tonsils and I was being told -while panicking and crying- that I just need to get removed (when i was very young I was told that i should get my tonsils removed as i used to suffer from tonsillitis often but I didn’t get the procedure done and just forgot about it, and recently I was reminded of that because of some things) and then in the midst of crying and sobbing because I was afraid a guy ( i have been recently told that he likes me, but i do not like him back) preceeded to hug me for a while and I surprisingly felt better after it and didn’t want to let him go.

Hi Michael!
I had a dream last night I just can’t stop thinking about. It started that I was in my old high school and I believe I was retaking my Sr. Year for some reason, I wasn’t angry about it though, even though I’m 25 so in waking life I would have been. Anyways I was walking down the halls trying to find my classes that were hard to find and this girl kept following me around and bullying me (waking life she’s actually my old roommate and we get along great) anyways all I know is that it was extreme bullying and I needed to talk to someone about it, I believe she has threatened my family and other vulnerable parts of my life. I was desperately walking around trying to find a couselor or a safe room to go into but I couldn’t ask where to go because my mouth was fill of gunk. I kept pulling gross gunk out of it but it just wouldn’t stop coming out and people started to yell at me to get to class and I couldn’t communicate with them. Eventually I found a room with tables and psychologists individually helping people. I sat down and was able to pull most of the gunk out and sort of talk but not completely. Then my psychiatrist hugged me from behind with his face touching my cheek and I felt 85% better instantly. He said it was the “mother-bird” technique and made me color in a picture of a bird while I pulled more gunk out of my mouth. Then I woke up and I’ve felt weird all day. Any input would be extremely appreciated! Thanks for reading!

Hi,
I had a dream where my gums were swollen and swelling more and more to the point they took over my teeth. They were painful and stopped me from talking to people in my dream. I then found I could burst themand they deflated for a while they the swelling built again. Same situation.
I had seen comments about my ex getting married before bed and felt upset by that.
I have also been very stressed at work. I’m a teacher.
Thank in advance for your help.
Ari

I keep having the same dream where my mouth is stuffed with thread, knotted and i have to take it out of my mouth when I realize it’s there and feel overwhelmed. I take out most of it but have to keep digging/pulling the remnants out until I finally feel relieved and normal, with nothing in my mouth or throat. Is this common? What could it mean?

Hello. I am an almost 60-year-old woman, though most people have no idea I am even close to that age. I am married, happily, and have two grown children who are … difficult. I had a nightmarish childhood. My mother is Borderline Personality Disorder plus Bipolar Disorder. I spent my childhood terrified of her rages. She was hospitalized for four months out-of-town where she was given shock treatments. I was 5 at the time. This followed on the heels of my father being wrongly diagnosed with TB and spending six months in a sanitarium out-of-town. I had my first fugue state when I was 5. While my mother was in the hospital I was often left in the care of my two older brothers. The possibility that I was sexually abused is there, but I really don’t think so. What they did do, though, was leave me at home alone all day with just my dogs while my father was at work and no one fed me and I was basically starved for a number of years. My mother thought I was “elegant” because I was so thin and loved that my hands were cold all the time. On top of all this, there was a very heavy occult presence in my home because of a grandmother. Ok? Don’t really want to go into all that. I became a Christian when I was 15 and got out of all that, but had some terrifying experiences for about two years following my conversion, I had no memories of the first 15 years of my life, but a crisis experience caused them to break open when I was 37 and I had a massive nervous breakdown. I have chronic PTSD and have been in therapy for 20 years in the different states I have lived in. Lots of hard-won progress has ensued. Now, the dream. I have had a recurring dream for years of spitting a white substance out of my mouth, spitting and spitting and spitting, but it keeps forming in my mouth and won’t stop. I wake up with a terrible sick feeling in my stomach and it always casts a pall on the day. Was I forced into giving someone oral sex at some time and have amnesia? Again, I don’t really think so. The dream has changed recently to where it is a ball of white-ish gummy substance. Almost like play dough. I keep pulling the ball of dough out of my mouth and another one forms and this keeps happening. I also awake from these dreams with a terrible taste in my mouth and very sick to my stomach. In both versions of the dream, I am interacting with other people as if nothing is wrong, I just keep having to find a place to either spit or deposit the blob of stuff in my mouth. I can talk in the dream, so it doesn’t appear to be about that. I have had three counselors, but none of them have had training in dream therapy so they have not been able to help. I don’t want to know if I was sexually abused. I feel like it would do no good and be of no benefit. My brothers live far away and we already have a very strained, low-contact, relationship. So, what are your thoughts about this. I’ve tried to give you some broad strokes of my life to help. If it is some memory that is trying to make its way out, how do I assist in this process? Even if it is sexual abuse, I’m willing to know if I have to to get these dreams to stop.
Hi Alice,
thank you for your extremely interesting dream, as well as the explanation of what you think might lie behind the dream. I am truly sorry, but I no longer have the opportunity of helping out for free – at least I have decided not to do it anymore, as I get so many requests every day – via my website, e-mail etc. I do find your dream utmost important for you, and I would think the white substance could be the “scars” that your childhood experiences has left in you. To what extent you – in your waking life – deal with it, confront it, consider how it has impacted you (like you do right here!)- the higher the likelihood it will go way. I do offer help (1- hour skype session against payment, see more here – please don’t hesitate in contacting me if you want to go more in depth with your dream. /Michael

I had a dream tonight…. I was in a bathroom with my deceased Great Gram pulling pieces of her gums out, to the point where pieces of her jaw came with it. Her mouth was very dry and she screamed in pain with every piece I took. It just kept coming out. I’m a little freaked out by seeing my deceased Great Gram in a dream, not only to be pulling her apart. What could this mean or have to do with anything? Thanks

I’m about to leave my wife of 16yrs. Tired of living how I’m living on this marriage. I had a dream last night I was taking my oral medications but couldn’t swallow them. I kept trying and trying but couldn’t. I spit them out and out came along with my meds paper clips. It started me in the dream and disturbed me after I woke up. What does that mean or symbolize?
