Dreams about repeating something – what do they mean? (Dream interpretation repetition)
Repetition, to do something over and over again in a dream – what does it mean?
Research shows that many have dreamt that they repeat the same action over and over again. What is this about? (NOTE: Click here if you were searching for the blogpost about recurring dreams)
Dream of repetition as a picture of a feeling of facing an impossible mission or to be “stalled”.
Dreams where you repeat the same action over and over again may simply be a picture of the fact that you in your life are faced with a task/challenge where you feel powerless.
At the same time it can also be a picture that you somehow are stuck in your life, and not really move forward from where you are – either in your development or in your positions. The dream thus indicates that there is an immeasurably need of a new perspective/position, and maybe you can seek the help of another/some you would not normally get involved in your challenges, because you find it difficult to even see a solution to your situation/your problem.

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.
However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.
My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

Repeating an inappropriate pattern.
The dream may also be a picture that you once again have brought yourself or are about to bring yourself in an unfortunate situation. Perhaps you might be leaving a girlfriend/partner for exactly the same reason as last time. You have not caught sight of something in yourself that is either “forcing” you into the same unfortunate circumstances or “forcing” you out of a good relationship. This pattern may also apply to your work that you in other words once again flee into a new job, without grabbing the root of the problem.
Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dreams are 100% individual, and when you dream about repeating something, it’s almost certainly about something else for you than it is for your friend, who also dreamt about repeating something. Dream interpretation / dream analysis is sometimes a difficult art, and a particular interpretation of a dream is only correct if you feel “affected” by it. Therefore, it is not certain that the above mentioned interpretations are relevant to you.
I keep having this dream of me doing routes and scoring a TD and it happens over and over again but in different ways and a different scenario. lately, I just started doing football and my season is almost over and I have been having dreams of scoring and catching a TD pass and it feels weird so I am concerned.
I just had a dream that people I know exegete trying to kill me and every time they got close this group of men would come and kill them instead then I would wake up in a hospital and somehow walk into a theater where a bloody arm would pop out and the dream would start over and each time I would make it just a little closer to being able to get To my car. The third time I was back in the theater I realized the only way to make it stop was to wake up but when I did there was this scary creature like thing earring at my side then I woke up for real. I’m scared
I just had a dream of so many doors but I keep coming back to the same starting point. I finally came out of the loop after several tries and then was taken to a military camp where i failed woefully on the first day of marching and then my feet was broken by my commander until i could just see it pulled out from the sockets while still standing and marching along with other soldiers. I picked myself up and ran but the commander chased me saying he would make me his bitch. He was an old and tooth less man. In my mind I told myself he was just stupid and needed to get the hell out of there.
The dream was more like a video game but with me inside the game as a player.
I just woke from a dream ive never really had before . The last couple months of my life have really changed , and I’ve been dreaming like crazy .
This dream I was trying to get to work (I start a new job today) and also trying to drop the person I started seeing a few month ago , off at work . We were in a weird car , and as we were trying to exist on the interstate , we came across a large semi crash on this exit bridge . As we stopped , we were leaning so far forward , we should’ve fallen . People help us turn around , but then all of a sudden the ground below us Alonso’s softens , and we start falling off the road , head first . We hit the ground (which is odd for a dream) and I’m expecting more pain , but it felt more pressure like ? And then I close my eyes and we’re back , repeating the same exact thing , the exact same fall , that’s pressure feeling all over again . And then I woke up .
Like I said , I dream very frequently , and they’re usually pretty similar … but this one was so weird .
I have had dreams of being chased a million times but every time I get away from the person or thing that is chasing me the dream restarts and Im running away again trying to stay alive.
its like I cant escape my dream and while im sleeping im aware that the dream is on repeat.
Its always someone trying to kill me or hurt me in some way.
what could this mean? Its making me feel paranoid walking past people, I feel like everyone is out to get me.
I can figure out the meaning of my dream: I was with a girl who I think was my fiend and she needed help pay two people she owed as we are going around to sell stuff the bank teller the video store guy said the only way forward is back as though it was a goodbye phrase. We still needed more money and so we went back to the high school and the high school was doing the elementary school track sports I stopped to watch them feeling of sad happiness. Then a friend came up next to me he said I remember when that was you. I said me too and I went inside to the classroom and my friend was freaking out about the money I told her we would figure it out. We went back out side to her care and again I fell behind to watch the track meet she yelled out for me to hurry I went to her and told her I wanted to stay she said come on. The other friend came up and Said he was staying to. She said what ever and trim back to her car realizing someone was inside I went with her over to the car it was the people who she owed money she said I got it figured out and left I went back over to the track and every one was gone so I went inside and in a classroom was my old teacher I said idk if you remember me he said he did I asked I could hang out and picked up a kid and started reading to them after a little the mother walked in and started talking to the teacher and then look at me and said the only way forward is back right it a casual but tired tone
I must note: I do not know who the guy friend or girlfriend are I just felt like I knew them and the guy was clearing dropping hints that he liked me. The teacher had more a distrusting tone and the mother lighthearted stressed tone. I also want to note that I am not in high school I am 24 and married and I live in a whole other state now. No kids. I don’t have money issues. But the dream felt like a warning and all of what happened in the dream were similar to life even that have occurred in the past
Good afternoon
I have a dream that I am at my ex fiancee house in my seat I’ve sat for 7 years watching tv with her mum and dad with my jen and we are talking about things I wake up and go back to the same situation or move on to going out with her either in a hotel or shopping things we did together can you tell me what they mean
My dream was of me moving forward but it taking be back to the start and it kept happening like it was glitching
This is a regular for me and its rare for me to not get in loop. i don’t normally remember dreams (i’m on my way to learning how to remember) now i cant recall every dream but almost any single time in that dream i remember an action i was doing multiple times and so much in fact i got frustrated at the dream not even knowing that the loop made me lucid dream. either if i was walking i kept walking and walking or it would pause for a second and start over again. i dont know if this is normal but usually im in some sort of third person view (its strange i know) and i’d just see myself doing the same and same thing over again, this loop causes me to lucid dream but that doesnt even stop it the loop is somehow so strong that when i realized i was lucid dreaming. i tried EVERYTHING to stop the loop but nothing i would send cars flying towards me planes trucks WHALES the titanic!! i really, really tried my hardest but theres some sort of restraint holding me back. the dream? it would take a long time just to get rid of the break and its frustating. i want to know how to break my loop and control my dream more is there any type of way… i have some idea in my head right now that maybe that we shouldnt break the loop by force but somehow im confused XD like breaking something thats stoping you in real life and in the dream world i think what’ill try next during a loop is try to continue the loop making me realize im in a lucid dream (almost anything could make me realize im in a lucid dream) then i’ll change the area if that doesnt work i try to actually get in my own body (aka first person view) then try to control myself from then. if anyone else has any other ideas to help pls do so c:
A dream that they have tried to shoot me in several occasions or kill me in several occasions but I always fight back and escape
I have dreamt it more than 3 times
What does it mean
Hello there. So I just had this dream once, and I am writing this right after it happened so I dont forget. So the scene is a mixture of a night hollween/videogame theme in the begining where I am not in control of where I am shooting in my video game. ( I play call of duty mobile and I didnt feel like I could play at all the day I had the dream.) I would be moving in circles really fast (flicks like you would with a sniper in COD, but constantly) and not knowing what was going on and I had no control over it. Then I would go “prone” or lay down and let people shoot me. That happened three or four times in the same dream. Imediately after, I woke up in my bed in a random hallway that I do not recognize. (To give context, I live in a two story house and sleep on the second story and that is where I woke up) in this dream I would constantly try to get out of bed, and say “In the name of Jesus leave” because I felt possed/slowed down/not in control. At first, I could slowly get out of bed walk into the hallway and then it started to restart. The more I tried waking myself up, the more it got worse, I felt slower and then hamds (it went from 2 hand to 4 random hands before I woke up) started touching/poking me in which I had no control over. The more I fought it the more stuck in bed I got and the less I could yell out “in the name of jesus leave”. After this happened I woke up and this was by far the scariest dream I ever had considering I am 19 and havent been scared of a dream enough to walk into my parents room and wake them up. This happened around 6 times total. What do you think happened with me? Do I feel stuck in life, am I not in control of something, is it the devil trying to toy with me, what do you think?
Dear Luke,
I am sorry to inform you that I currently don’t help out here (for free), as I am focusing fully on the completion of my next book. You can try asking this one major question with regards to the dream; how might this dream in any way be relevant for my waking life? I can offer to help you in a private session (with payment), please see more here. Best regards – Michael
I have this old friend that we even went to kindergarten together, we are now in our 40s and both still single. I may or may not have feelings for him, yes I am unsure about this myself.
He is leading me on spiritual path, we are both buddhist. He always shares information of Buddha’s teaching within our group of friends. We seldom have personal one to one interactions and we even live in different countries.
In the past 3 years, I repeatedly dreamt that we (together with an extended group of people) are on some sort of mission. I can never remember what the mission is about but he is always the leader of the mission.
In the dream we don’t neccessarily have special interactions between me and him but the feeling is usually that I am his wife and everyone else in the group knows about it. I don’t feel anything special about this ‘status’, more like it is just a matter of fact. I always feel very calm in the dreams.
I think I have this sort of dreams almost daily (or nightly) recently and I am getting more and more curious about what this means. Please help.
Thank you
Hi guys. So like My dream kinda repeats itself, but I’m also searching for its deeper meaning, if you know what I mean. So lately, I’ve been dreaming of an old friend, almost for two straight weeks now. He & I used to be really close, but then he met some new people & he completely changed. It’s almost like he forgot about me. Anyways, my dream: I was in a short hallway, covered in dirty white wall, & I was talking to an adult friend…apparently, I knew he was an alien, I was part alien, & he told me that another young friend of his was an alien like he & I, too. Next thing I know I’m on an open field at my old elementary school. It wen up to sixth grade. But it’s weird, because while I was at my sixth-grade-elementary school, there were people from both sixth & seventh grade there with me. I drew on my white shoes with blue marker while listening to a boring announcement, then I was told that the counselor, an elderly but energetic woman I’ve never even met, a complete stranger, wanted to see me. Apparently, some stranger best friends of mine were fighting over me. Then next thing I know, my old friend shows up. He says that he needs me to come with him because he needs help with something, so I do. On our way there, I start to tell him about drawing on my shoe, but then I look down & it’s clean: apparently it rained, & I wasn’t even wet until after I knew that it rained. Next thing I know, we’re sitting at a table with another elderly but strict woman who looks like she could be the counselor’s sister or somethingup. Then my old friend is somehow viewing my memories, which, in the dream, were no memories of mine. He was smiling & staying silent. Then I was presented to some strangers. A boy & a girl, both dark hair, pale skin, & dark clothes. I recognized them from somewhere( in the dream), & I said the boy’s name. Then I looked up, & I saw a sign that said his name!? At the end of the dream, I was saying “i’m sorry, I am so sorry”. Then my alarm went off & I woke up scared, hurt, & almost crying.
the meaning?
– confused?
Dear IRL, what an highly interesting dream! Dreams should always be related to current waking life -i.e. asking; how might this dream in any way be of relevance to your waking life right now? Since most of the events take place in elementary school/childhood you could ask – how might what I experienced during elementary school be of relevance right now in my life? E.g. what did I “learn” about myself / about life back then – that might be right – or might be totally wrong? You could examine the relationship with your close friend (back then) – what did you “learn” in this friendship – or, what type of person was your friend, and how might (e.g.) accessing/connecting with this side in yourself be of relevance? There is a lot more to talk about/say regarding this dream – but it would require a dialogue/your response to my thoughts. Best – Michael R Olsen
Woke from a weird dream. I was in a kitchen, I turn on the stove with a pan already on top, once it started to sizzle I turned it off. Walked away to another corner and saw the same exact scenario. Then I went back to check If I turned off the 1st stove (I was so sure I did, but went to look anyway). It was turned off with the arrow align up to the off position, then I repeated the same exact thing to the 2nd stove. Please help me dicipher this dream!
I just experienced a mundane dream that kept repeating. I would wake up, change position and go back to sleep. Then it repeated all over again. Basically a groundhog day type of deal – over probably 3-4 hours. First time I’ve had this kind of dream.
I had dream I was running toward somthng I can’t reach… It has repeated again same road I pass the last time but I can’t reach the end
I have this dream i never understood. Once in a few years i get the same sort of thing happening. But i remember the first time. I was probably 6 or younger. I walked through the street of the supermarket in the town i grew up. Everything was normal at first and was not realising i was dreaming. But when i walked by the supermarket the exact same supermarket was next to it but with fewer people. At this moment i was getting confused allready and got a very uneasy feeling about it. My panic level increased slowly and i couldnt help myself moving further and further. The street was never ending and i knew that the next same supermarket i was goin to see was about to be more and more quiet. This went on to the supermarket version that was completely empty and abandoned. At this version i stopped walking and my panic level was extreme high at this point. Now i took a look back in the street where i came from but it suddenly all was abandoned. And for some reason i wasnt even able to go back where i came from. I freaking tried but an invisible blockade was keeping me from goin to the place i knew i was safe. The panic was over level 9000 now and i started running further ahead where i took some quik looks while comming across the next worse abandoned ominous looking supermarket. Eventually everything became dark to the point i couldnt see a thing. And finally i woke up. Has someone any idea what this idiot shit might mean? I cant get any logic out of it and i remember this nightmare ever since. In a way it still haunts me.
I was just now stuck in a repeating dream for what felt like hours.( A little back story. It’s like 6pm and I feel tired so I get up to tell my mom that I’m going to take a nap. She lets me so I go into my very dimly lit room. I was using two candles to light it as well. So I get in bed and face the doorway and fall asleep) in my dream I wake up and it’s like 10pm. My parents are in their room across from mine and next to the bathroom to the right. I get up, look at my green rug and go to the bathroom with ease. Then I look in the mirror see some of myself and boom!!! It starts all over. And again. By the 4th time I can only see a little bit. As if I was peaking and I can only see my hand when I wave it In front of me for a brief second as I am laying down. This scares me and I try to see my hand again and I can’t. And I also can nearly get into a standing position until it feels as I’d though a magnet forces me back down onto my bed. —as I’m typing I also remember a part that scared me 2 rounds before or something. I get up, look into my closet this time(which is in front of my bed) and stare at these small plushies. Then a terrifying thing happens. I falls(slightly) and pretty much “falls” towards me, but in my head I noticed that it looks as though it specifically was “handed” to me. I get scared, put it back and it happens again. This time I screamed and tried to tell my parents but I just couldn’t so Bam! Back to square one on my bed— ok so, I can see my hand and I barley get to the mirror ( because I feel a force trying to keep me back and trying to restart it all again) and I start thinking, ‘maybe I’ve done something’ but I also didn’t know what. So then it repeats that same way now. Where I can barely see and get up and go to my bathroom. And then it gets worse and I see darkness. Where I move my had I only see that a tiny bit of static ness or tingles or my hands nerves or something. And I panic and can only roll over and hear my parents tv / movie and or see it from my room but I can’t get anywhere. I’m stuck to my bed. And it’s worse and worse to where I thought I legitimately woke up but for some reason felt the same energy and like I couldn’t see or go anywhere. I remember a tingly sensation running through my hands and up my arm, and instead of holding a plush physically, I’d make the sensation of holding things in my hands and only sense it with tingles and try to do something then but failed. What’s scary is towards the end(the worst part where it felt 10 times more real and longer) I thought I saw a shadow man in my doorway while the room was dark dark and I only saw a blue background behind him. And I immediately tried to stop that thought. At last, I get a text and it’s like a video playing but realistically I only here someone reading their texts from a friend “ to you our “ but maybe rearranged. And I thought, “close your eyes hard and try to feel like you’re waking up” to make myself actually wake up. It didn’t work at first but by the third time , I felt how you do when u wake up and I kept pushing it , making myself think about my real world and school and just what and where I am. And I woke up. Even right now I’m shocked and I looked at the time and it was only 7:40. When I was actually standing I knew i succeeded, but what if I didn’t. I thought that I’ve stayed asleep for hours. —— help me. How do I stop this from happening again, and what did it mean, or why did it happen? Also woke up thinking the text said “our you you”
Hi, I have a had a dream where I am driving in a car from an area I use to live in and I was driving to some guys house who I liked but every time I reached he’s street in the car I was taken back to the beginning into my old street and every time I kept going to the guys house I was put to the beginning and it was frustrating and I was getting angry at myself in the dream because I could not reach my destination. What could this be?
With my dreams I am usaully sitting on a bed, couch, or floor then I do either an action or just say something and its repeated over and over getting faster and louder each Time by the voices in my head, Sometimes it’s a conversation with my mom or something and the obnoxious noise only happens when I talk or do something , It causes me alot anxiety and it’s a recurring dream/nightmare that’s happens about once every year, how do I stop having these dreams and what do they mean
