Dream interpretation on flying in dreams.

You dream that you are flying high above everything and looking down at the microscopic landscape below you. You have a feeling of being calm and having strength and energy … Or are you filled with a great fear of falling? Or do you try to “fly away” (escape) from something and feel great turmoil? We humans can not fly, so why is it that the dream of flying is one of the most dreamt dreams? Because flying dreams provide an excellent hint about what happens inside us.

Flying dreams as an image of “good vibes”, calamity and energy in your life – but also as a picture of a transition.

Are you hanging in the air with a super good feeling, energy and a sense of overview? Then it is likely that this is exactly what you have – overview and peace in your life; that you are “on top” and that you can survey your life. If a good gut feeling and freedom are the dominant emotions in the dream, it can also be about the fact that you are freeing yourself from emotional attachments in relation to one period (or a part of) your life; that you are moving into a new phase in your life, and you can feel the immense freedom associated with it.

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.

However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.

My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

Flying dreams as an image of escape from everyday life, or loss of contact with reality.

It is important to be careful and honest with yourself when you interpret your flying dream. Flying ”high above it all” can also be a picture of (desired) escape from the everyday grind, expectations, pressure, etc. So even if the feeling in the dream is good – then it is only a “nocturnal escapade,” which is good enough and nice if you wake up in the morning all energetic and combative to stand against today’s challenges. But if it is in fact that you are trying to escape from something and that the dream depicted as having to “fly away” from what is troubling you, then the dream may tell you that you in your waking life must stand up and confront it. Further to this, a dream where you fly can also be a picture that you have an unrealistic picture of how much control you really have. If you can sense the uncertainty and anxiety while flying, then it might be an illustration that you have “lost touch,” and that you have come a little out of touch with your own reality, and you might overestimate yourself and your abilities – or plans!

Flying dreams as an image of spirituality.

Finally, when you dream that you are flying and the feeling is good, then it might be a picture that you somehow have approached “higher altitudes,” which is about your spirituality thrive and – some would argue – that you approach your God.

Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dreams are 100% individual, and when you dream about flying, it’s almost certainly about something else for you than it is for your friend, who also dreamt about flying. Dream interpretation / dream analysis is sometimes a difficult art, and a particular interpretation of a dream is only correct if you feel “affected” by it. Therefore, it is not certain that the above mentioned interpretations are relevant to you.
