Dreams about bathing or tidying up – what do they mean? (dream interpretation, cleaning, bathing, showering)
Dream interpretation/symbolism – cleaning/showering. Tidying up or cleaning in a dream can, amongst other things, refer to an inner cleansing. The same can be said for dreams about cleaning yourself/taking a bath. In other words, we’re attempting to gain more control over our many thoughts/emotions and ourselves; the chaos we perhaps feel inside.
Dreams of cleaning or showering could also mean many other things. These are laid out below.
Moral cleansing – Feelings of guilt/shame/a bad conscience. The internal chaos can be caused by a sense of guilt – justified or not. We may have done something objectively wrong – perhaps even illegal – and we want to get it “off our chests”. Perhaps we did something our parents taught us was wrong – whereas others are of the opinion that it isn’t wrong.
Maybe we spent too much money at a party or bought too much clothes befitting our style. Maybe it was a feeling of sexual attraction towards a member of the same sex. At the outset – and consciously – we believe these things to be wrong mostly because of our upbringing or culture – but maybe they’re right for us?

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.
However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.
My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

We want to get rid of something burdening us. The inner cleansing or tidying could also be about ridding ourselves of something that’s been troubling us for a while. Perhaps it’s such massive burden that it has been on our minds day in and day out.
It can mean the same if you’re bathing/showering in your dreams or is in any other way being washed/cleansed. You want to become clean, as in guilt – or stress-free, so you’re trying to wash the “dirt” off of you.
Dreaming about washing oneself clean is not uncommon for young women experiencing their period for the first time, as the dream represents the embarrassment the period makes them feel.
Being washed/taking a bath in your dreams can also be a symbol of baptism, being “born again”, and is perhaps something spiritual/religious in nature. Maybe it’s a symbol of an important step in your personal growth, starting anew in some ways.
Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Interpreting dreams isn’t always easy and your dream is no one’s but your own. If you dream about cleaning or taking a bath it’ll almost certainly mean something different to you than it does to others dreaming the same. You are often the best person to know whether or not the given interpretation of your dream is the correct one.
What if you dream of someone else washing your feet?
