Dreaming about the weather – what does it mean? (Dream interpretation rain, sun, snow, thunder and lightning, seasons)

Dream interpretation analysis weather seasons rain sun snow thunder

The weather as a reflection of your feelings and state of mind. When the weather plays a major part in your dream, it can be a symbol of your mood, or your state of mind, in your waking life.

Stormy weather can, in this way, reflect conflicts and anger, sunshine- joy and optimism (or the arrival of this in your life), while rain can be a symbol of tears but also rejuvenation (rain fertilizes the earth and cleanses the air).

Snow (and ice) can be a symbol of your inner self being “frozen over” as in your feelings being frosty or cold. In the same way the temperature can describe both the inner and the outer- the heat or cold overall.

The outer in the sense that the environment surrounding you/the dreamer in the waking world (your home, your workplace or other areas) can be hot or cold- which in turn can transform into an inner cold/heat. Meaning that the environments we find ourselves in have an effect on us.

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.

However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.

My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

If the wind acts as an important element in your dream it can be a symbol of tailwind and headwind (success and struggle). Mist or haze can reflect that you’re having trouble with orienting yourself at the moment.

Sunshine and pleasant weather can reflect upon a great inner and outer (mental) climate. Or the opportunity for it to become that way.

The seasons as a symbol of the phases of life. If the season in your dream is central to it- something you really notice – it can reflect where you are in life right now or what period of your life the dream is about.

The spring, wherein everything sprouts and grows, will in this way be a symbol of the childhood.

The summer, wherein everything has blossomed to its fullest, is a symbol of the youth.

The fall is a symbol of adulthood, your maturation and where you’ll reap the fruits of what you’ve sowed earlier (but also the fruits of what you’ve learnt).

The winter then illustrates old age and perhaps the sterility that comes with it.

Dreams about the weather as predictions – a barometer. Traditionally it has been believed that the weather in dreams was a prediction, exactly like a barometer predicting the weather. Spring and summer in dreams could be a sign of exciting/joyous events to come while a storm could indicate a grueling period full of conflict in the future.

Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dream interpretation is a challenging sport and it’s important to realize that the best interpreter is the one who dreamt the dream- the dreamer him- or herself. A good sign that any given interpretation is correct; is that the dreamer experiences a deep sense it is.
