Dreams about driving a car – what do they mean? (Dream interpretation car)

To drive a car in your dream – what does it mean?

To drive a car in a dream is typically an illustration of your movement forward in life. It often has a great importance that you just go by car – rather than for example riding the bus. When you drive, you drive “your own way” – but what if you have passengers in the car and not the driver – who is it that “manages” your life? The car may further be a picture of your body i.e. that which daily carries you around in life and therefore the condition of the vehicle can give you a hint about your body.
When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.

However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.

My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

The car as an image of your body.
In the past, horses in a dream was a picture of one’s body (some still dream about horses in this sense) – now it’s mostly cars appearing in this sense (if you don’t drive a car yet, a bicycle can also be an expression of this). It is about the fact that this means of transport brings you forward and around in life. You use the car or bike to get around. Therefore, the type of car and the vehicle’s condition says a lot about your body’s condition. Dreaming of a worn/used car can therefore be a picture of that your body is simply worn down. In a very compressed period of time a few years ago, I dreamt that I drove around in a four-wheeled big jeep that had received a single dent on the hood – but which still drove with ease. The dream gave me peace in relation to my concern about if I was wearing too much on my body. At that age (back then I was 34), I was content with having a small dent on an otherwise strong body. A few years later I dreamt that I was driving and the car was flooded/”drowned”. A very strong image that now my life had become too busy and that I should slow down.

Driving in the car as a picture of your movement forward in life.
When you drive you are moving forward, on your way somewhere. Conversely, when we take the bus (which has a fixed route), then to drive your car in a dream is an image on a more liberated movement. At least it is when it is you who is the driver! Do you dream that you are sitting on the passenger seat or the back and that it is your partner, your father / mother or someone else that is the driver yes then you might ask yourself the question: “Who is it that is the actual “driverin your waking, conscious life.” Is it yourself,  or are you controlled by others?

Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dreams are 100% individual, and when you dream about driving a car, it’s almost certainly about something else for you than it is for your friend, who also dreamt about driving a car. Dream interpretation / dream analysis is sometimes a difficult art, and a particular interpretation of a dream is only correct if you feel “affected” by it. Therefore, it is not certain that the above mentioned interpretations are relevant to you.
