Dreams about fire – what do they mean? (dream interpretation fire, burning)

Dream interpretation fire. Dreaming about fire or flames is often a symbol of strong feelings or passion, and it is crucial to pay attention to where the fire is and what exactly is on fire and even how intense the fire is. It can be hard to interpret dreams about fire because they are often ambiguous: if you dream that your childhood home is on fire, it can be a symbol of the emotional chaos you may currently be experiencing because of childhood events. However, it can also be a symbol of saying goodbye to your childhood home and what it represents.

Fire as an image of strong feeling/passion. Fierce fires or large bonfires in your dreams may symbolize the exact same thing in you – that you are filled with intense conflicts or strong feelings or emotions (anger or maybe love?). “Burning love” (as in a very intense love relationship) is a common phrase – an image of fire symbolizing strong feelings (both positive and negative). Internal fires might then symbolize an internal conflict that you do not know how to handle or that you are actually handling right now. A forest fire that might be spreading quickly could be an image of out of control emotions (depending on what is actually happening in the dream). If your hair is on fire, it could symbolize strong feelings occurring because of your thoughts (in your head).

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.

However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.

My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

Fire as an image of transformation/making peace with the past. In the same way that fire might symbolize severe and often destructive feelings, fire can also be a positive image of an attempt to make peace with – or a cleansing of – negative experiences. For example, if your childhood home is burning, it might mean that you are finally making peace with your childhood or maybe getting rid of childish behavior. Or if you are in a massive sea of flames and in a huge amount of pain, or maybe not even affected by the flames or heat, it might symbolize an inner “cleansing process” in which you are saying goodbye to an old or outdated way of thinking and behaving (also see Death). In this way, you are preparing for a new and improved version of yourself.

Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dream interpretation is not always easy, and it is important to note that your dream is your own. When you dream about fire, it probably does not mean the same for you as for others who also dreamed about fire. And your dream might mean something completely different than the above mentioned interpretations.
