Dreaming about hair – what does it mean? (Dream interpretation hair)

hair

Dream interpretation on hair and loss of hair.

The hair is a very important part of most people’s identity – whether you have it or not! Overall, the hair often symbolizes the gender – ie. manliness (strength) of the man and femininity of the woman. But when you dream that you lose it or suddenly get more of it, then there are some clear connections here.

Men who dream of their own hair.

For the man the hair symbolizes all that we normally associate with the “strong man”; manhood, strength, decision-making and action. If a man dreams that he loses his hair (either by falling off or he or someone else cuts it off), then it is perhaps a loss of strength and manliness. In mythology, the loss of the hair is often associated with castration and the loss of freedom.

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.

However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.

My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

Women who dream of their own hair.

In women the hair symbolizes femininity. So like the man, a loss of hair in women is a symbol of a loss of femininity. Do you dream that you lose your (long or short) hair? Then you may be asking yourself what’s going on in your life right now – does it limit your sense of being a woman? Another reason may be closely linked to a sense of being less attractive. Both for men and women it is not uncommon to dream about loss of hair while having a personal life crises, which can be related to a sense of powerlessness.

Of course it is also interesting how you lose your hair. If you cut it yourself it might point to a pattern of thought / behavior in yourself where you somehow do not let you be the man / woman you are. Is it someone else – maybe your girlfriend / partner who cuts it, then a natural question is if your partner is putting a limit to you in your masculinity / femininity. It may also be that the male or female in yourself (i.e. your opposite gender) has taken control and you therefore now have a behavior that is distinctly male (even if you’re a woman) or female (even if you are male).

Hair in dreams as an image of “thought structure”.

If you dream that you cut all your hair off it may eventually also be a picture that you strongly “rearrange” / reconstruct your way of thinking. The hair is then a picture of the way you’re thinking “it up in your hair” – and when you see yourself cut it off, it is therefore also sometimes an image that you are about to get rid of the ways you have been thinking for a long time.

Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dreams are 100% individual, and when you dream about hair, it’s almost certainly about something else for you than it is for your friend, who also dreamt about hair. Dream interpretation / dream analysis is sometimes a difficult art, and a particular interpretation of a dream is only correct if you feel “affected” by it. Therefore, it is not certain that the above mentioned interpretations are relevant to you.
