Dreams about falling – what do they mean? (Dream interpretation falling)

fall

Dream interpretation on falling.
To dream of falling is one of the most dreamed themes. It is number 3 on the list of dreams typically remembered. Classically we can dream about it when we “fall” asleep, that is when we dwell into dreamland. But falling in dreams is usually about other, less straightforward things.

Falling dreams as an image of fear of loss of status.

When one falls, the direction is downwards – i.e. coming from a higher starting point, and moving downwards. To fall in dreams is typically associated with a great sense of anxiety and therefore the dream that you fall can be a picture of an occurring/ongoing social rollercoaster (to be fired), or a subconscious fear of such a decline in social status. This has to do with the fact that one may experience a loss of control (which one feels that one had in one’s life) and to a certain extent: helplessness.

Often one can therefore dream that one falls or fear of falling from man-made structures such as buildings, scaffolding, etc., or from mental/social constructs that one has “built up”. Therefore, it can also be about a pressure of expectations you have with you from childhood, and your fear of “falling,” meaning not live up to these expectations. If you dream that you stumble, it may be about that this is only a small decline which you easily can get back up from. This thought may eventually also be the case that you are experiencing a “moral decay” – that you in your real life have done something that is inconsistent with your morals.

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.

However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.

My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

To fall in dreams as an image to indulge in something.

When you dream that you fall, it can also be a picture of you who (positively) lets go of control, and devote yourself to something. For example, a relationship, a new job, project or similar.

To fall in dreams as an image of “surrendering” yourself to your feelings.

In addition to the above, falling in dreams can also be a picture that you go from being ruled by your intellect, to give in to your feelings, which objectively can be good and bad. We’re not 100% being controlled by our intellect/rationality, but also not 100% guided by our emotions. If you dream that you fall and believe it can be about the fact that you give in to your feelings, then be sure that you also, to some extent, involve your intellect – your consciousness in it as well.

Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dreams are 100% individual, and when you dream about falling, it’s almost certainly about something else for you than it is for your friend, who also dreamt about falling. Dream interpretation / dream analysis is sometimes a difficult art, and a particular interpretation of a dream is only correct if you feel “affected” by it. Therefore, it is not certain that the above mentioned interpretations are relevant to you.
