Dreams about sex – perhaps with a stranger – what does it mean? (dream interpretation sex)

Dreams about sex – what are they about?

You dream that you go home with a stranger, you have great chemistry, and the sexual energies beats almost sparks between you. You wake up in the morning and are completely filled up from the dream, and have the best feeling in the body – almost like you’ve had an orgasm (maybe you’ve actually had an orgasm …).

The problem is that you do not know who the stranger was and what it was that had just happened – but utterly wonderful it was! What might that mean? Previous studies show that about one in eight of our dreams are about sex.

A Canadian survey of students showed that dreams about sex come in second place of the dreams we remember best. A dream about sex can be a picture of several things:

Sex in dreams as reflections of feelings towards or in relation with others.

Dreams express themselves symbolically and sex in dreams is usually more about feelings than it is about real sex. If a man, for example, dreams that he has sex with his mother, it may be a picture of some strong feelings in the relationship with his mother – that is a strong maternal bond.

Thus, one can also have sex with friends, girlfriends, and family members without it being something to be hugely embarrassed about, or think that you are completely twisted in your sexual desires. It is in this way more about the strong emotional connections, be it appropriate or less appropriate.

When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.

However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.

My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams.

Sex in dreams as an image of getting in touch with your inner qualities.

The dream depicted above where you go home and have sex with a stranger could be a classic image of a dream that tells of internal links to pages in yourself, by representing the one you have sex with.

Therefore, a woman who has sex with a stranger is a picture of (or perhaps lack of) contact with the male qualities in herself. Male qualities in dreams could be something like having directions in life, not to be dependent on what other people think.

In this way, a man can also have dreams of having (gay) sex with another male, perhaps a “rock type”or “serious” man, as an expression of (lacking) contact with the rougher male side of himself. Men can also dream about sex with a known person or a stranger, as an image of (lacking) inner contact with the qualities the woman represents for him.

For example, dreams of sex with an ex-boyfriend does not refer to a hidden / unconscious desire to return to the ex-boyfriend, but more a desire for contact with the sides of herself that her ex-boyfriend represents. Maybe musicality, initiative, or whatever it may be.

Sex in dreams as an image of sexual complications.

Finally, the dream of sex can also be a picture of real sexual problems. It is important to note exactly what is happening in the dream; are there difficulties in intercourse? Are there other things that give a hint of any sexual problems? Something not lived? Non-sexual dreams can also be a picture of sexually related topics.

A woman may, for example, dream that she guards the entrance to a cave – that NO men may enter – a picture on a perhaps inappropriate sexual caution.

Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “Unlock your DREAMlife” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE: Dreams are 100% individual, and when you dream about sex, it’s almost certainly about something else for you than it is for your friend, who also dreamt about sex. Dream interpretation / dream analysis is sometimes a difficult art, and a particular interpretation of a dream is only correct if you feel “affected” by it. Therefore, it is not certain that the above mentioned interpretations are relevant to you.
